  • Talk about "a movie script ending": in the brand new music video from Death Cab for Cutie, frontman (and future KEXP guest DJ) Ben Gibbard stars as a film director, shooting an action movie. Watch the brutal slow-motion footage for the track "Black Sun" below. Their forthcoming release Kintsugi hits stores March 31st via Atlantic, and the boys will play two nights at The Paramount, Saturday, October 3rd and Sunday, October 4th. [Pitchfork]

  • In other Northwest music news, Sunny Day Real Estate frontman Jeremy Enigk has announced a nationwide tour, including a Thursday, April 2nd stop at Neumos. Here's hoping this is a sign of new music: Enigk's last solo album, OK Bear, came out in 2009. [Consequence of Sound]

  • You never know what Jack White is going to do next, but who would've guessed he would cover jazz vocalist Harry Connick Jr.? Stream White's gritty take on the loungey track "Blue Light, Red Light (Someone’s There)" below, and get a copy for yourself when it's released on February 17th via Third Man Records as the b-side to a "That Black Bat Licorice" 7" single. [Pitchfork]

  • Superchunk frontman Mac McCaughan has announced he'll be releasing his "debut" solo album titled Non-Believers, out April 7th via his own Merge Records. (I'm putting "debut" in quotes, 'cause while this is his first album under his own name, he's already been releasing solo music under the moniker Portastatic for years.) In a press release, McCaughan states the album is about "the irony that comes with being 16 and having a car but not knowing where to go in it, or having a keyboard or a guitar and not knowing how to play it." Check out a trailer for the release below: [Pitchfork]

  • Experimental electronic musician Dan Deacon shares a colorful new look at his upcoming release, Gliss Riffer, out February 25th via Domino. Stream the ironically high-strung track "Learning to Relax" below. Deacon also recently announced a Friday, May 8th stop at Neumos. [Under the Radar]
