  • We've got new music to share from local fave Manatee Commune: check out the single "Clay" below, featuring gorgeous guest vocals from Marina Price. The track will be released on 7" single tomorrow, November 6th via Bastard Jazz. Manatee Commune plays Saturday, November 14th at The Showbox with Blockhead. [Stereogum]

  • It was on this day in 1990 that shoegaze greats Slowdive released their self-titled debut EP. Today, they celebrate with a live version of the track "Avalyn," recorded during last year's reunion tour. On Facebook, the band reminisce about the track: "We didn't really have a structure for the song until we got to the studio. In fact, it was almost an afterthought. We had the bass part that was simply repeated all the way through, and Neil and Christian found that they could make weird noises with their guitars. One part almost sounds like a wind instrument. Otherwise it was really just composed on the spot, Rachel bringing the words and vocal melody - and we recorded it pretty much live, and possibly in a single take. We knew immediately that together with Slowdive, this was the direction the band was taking." [Under the Radar]

  • Run the Jewels have truly outdone themselves. Not only did they remix last year's full-length Run the Jewels 2 using entirely cat noises (released under the title Meow the Jewels, natch). Now they've released a music video compiling a collage of cat gifs. Watch the clip for the Nick Hook remix of "All My Life" below: [Pitchfork]

  • Portland electro-disco group Chromatics covered the Cyndi Lauper classic "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" for a commercial, and now they're taking it one step further by releasing the Girls Just Wanna Have Fun maxi-single featuring SEVEN different versions of the track, including the two you can stream below: “Girls Just Wanna Have Some” and “Girls Just Wanna Have Dub.” The EP arrives tomorrow via the band's own Italians Do It Better label; no word on when their next full-length Dear Tommy hits the streets.
