  • Yesterday, we lost the iconic New Orleans musician Allen Toussaint. The legendary composer, performer and producer passed away at 77 years-old from cardiac arrest in Madrid while on tour. In his life, Toussaint carried the New Orleans R&B traditions of Professor Longhair and others through to the 21st Century, working with and influencing countless other performers and songwriters, earning his place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame and the Blues Hall of Fame, a Grammy nomination, and the National Medal of Arts.     • On November 13, New York indie pop outfit The Pains of Being Pure at Heart will release a three-track EP called Hell. The title track has a bright pop melody with funky undertones. According to the press release, "The song 'Hell' is about how insufferable performances of sensitivity are when there's a good song playing and someone you want to dance with." Listen below. [CoS]

    • Swedish folk artist The Tallest Man on Earth, a.k.a. Kristian Matsson, shared the video for his Dark Bird Is Home track "Darkness Of The Dream." In the video, Matsson splits his time between learning intricate choreography in a dance studio and traveling a deserted road with a precious little dog. [Stereogum]

    • Erykah Badu will drop her new mixtape But You Caint Use My Phone sometime during Thanksgiving weekend. Today, she's unveiled "Phone Down," a sensuous number that will be featured on the mixtape along with her cover of Drake's "Hotline Bling." [Pitchfork]

    • St. Lucia, the music project of John-Philip Grobler, has debuted the video for "Dancing on Glass," their fist new music in about two years. The video shows Grobler and company in some sort of rehab facility where they suffer from addictions to spray tans, flowers, and other interesting vices. [SPIN]
