Today, we conclude our weekly series of Polish bands KEXP recorded while at the OFF Festival in Katowice with a bang. Wrocław trio Ukryte Zalety Systemu, whose name translates to "Hidden Benefits System", clearly reference bands like Gang of Four as they decry the erosion of individualism in the face of political deceit, pervasive commercialism and an increasing culture of distraction. These self-acknowledged victims of the system spit and snarl their charged lyrics over dance-driven beats, entertaining as much as educating. Fans of late 1970s punk won't need a verbal translation to get their reference, and certainly everyone can enjoy Ukryte Zalety Systemu, or just UZS, as we recorded them live at Fabryka Porcelany Śląskiej, the historic porcelain factory in Katowice.
Watch UZS' fiery set below and check out the other incredible performances KEXP recorded in Poland here. Once again, a huge thanks to the OFF Festival and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute's Don’t Panic! We’re from Poland! initiative, who brought us out to discover all of these amazing artists.
