Red Bull Sound Select are at it again: the caffeine-packed beverage people throw concerts around the world, curated by local taste-makers (KEXP has curated a few of these shows ourselves). This time around, legendary label Sub Pop Records have picked the bill, and on Wednesday, October 7th, you can see Austra, Gazebos, and USF at the Tractor Tavern.Toronto-based artist Austra (real name: Katie Stelmanis) always enchants with her dark-wave synthpop and her classically trained vocals. It's been a couple of years since her sophomore full-length Olympia came out; fingers crossed she'll be sharing new material from the Tractor stage. Seattle's own party-band Gazebos and chillwavers USF kick off the evening.
As always, Red Bull Sound Select concerts are first-come, first-served, so get there early. Tickets are $3 with an RSVP (click here), and $10 without one.
East meets West with the Modern Sky Music Festival, a jam-packed one-day show happening this Sunday, October 11th at the Seattle Center Mural Amphitheater.
It's hard to believe this festival is only in its third year: Macefield Music Festival takes over Ballard this weekend, from Friday, October 2nd through Sunday, October 4th, with an amazing array of local artists across many venues.
