Draw on your black eyeliner, and get ready to get gloomy with KEXP as we team up with Jenny George, founder of Dancing on the Valentine, for a very special evening at the Tractor Tavern on Wednesday, October 28th with Dark Entries Goth Night.
We'll be paying tribute to songwriters Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, David J, and Kevin Haskins by covering songs they wrote, either as Bauhaus, Love and Rockets, or Tones on Tail. Local artists Black Whales, Ever So Android, Legion Within, Murder Vibes, Trick Candles, and Youryoungbody are up to the task, with DJ Doc Blammer spinning between sets."To paraphrase Homer Simpson, making teenagers depressed is like shooting fish in a barrel," said KEXP DJ El Toro. "Getting them to express that unbearable angst with panache, through music, fashion, and poetry, takes more work. And that’s what Goth does. Bauhaus may never have writhed and rocked on American Bandstand, but Batcave pin-ups like Siouxsie Sioux, The Cure, and Sisters of Mercy inspired legions of disenfranchised young people into rekindling the positive energy of punk, and left a mark on fashion and music that will endure long after we’ve all felt the sweet embrace of the grave."
Tickets are on sale now for this 21+ show, with all proceeds going to benefit KEXP's New Home. Get ready for some dark sounds with this video round-up below!
