"Your hippocampus does it alright" That astute observation from Built to Spill's Doug Martsch on his cerebral ode to memory function is a heck of an understatement when it comes to Twin Cities band Hippo Campus. The young four-piece is quickly becoming the pride of the St. Paul scene with their breezy indie rock vibe and hook-filled songwriting. While their association with Low's Alan Sparhawk, who produced their debut EP, should be mnemonic cue enough to send you searching for more of their music, you'll go mental when you hear how tight these early 20-somethings sound live. And you definitely won't forget Hippo Campus after watching them do far more than alright during their recent performance in the KEXP studio.
