The word "bumbershoot" means "umbrella," so perhaps it's fitting that the first day of the 2014 Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival is under a steady stream of rain. But rain or shine, it's going to be a great first day of music out on the Seattle Center grounds, with Afghan Whigs, Elvis Costello, Poliça, and (hells yeah!) the Wu-Tang Clan.
Here in the (dry, covered) KEXP Music Lounge, we'll have a great afternoon. Anacortes quartet The Lonely Forest are sadly calling it quits, but KEXP is fortunate to host one of their very final performances as a band. Canadian quirkster Mac DeMarco blew us all away with his Pickathon set, and we can't wait to see what he brings to Bumbershoot. Poliça always bring a chilled-out vibe with with R&B-tinged electro-pop. And we're thrilled to have The Both on the West Coast. This project of Aimee Mann and Ted Leo has been LIVE on KEXP from The Cutting Room studios, and we're looking forward to having them live, and in person.
Listen to these live sessions all day long as KEXP broadcasts from the Bumbershoot Music Lounge!
