Song of the Day: Allah-Las - Had It All

When you've got the formula for the perfect summer album, why change a thing? Since their 2012 self-titled debut, Allah-Las have captured the sunny clime of their Los Angeles home in short, dazzling retro gems of sonic nostalgia, incorporating bright tinges of SoCal beach pop, garage and psych rock, latin rhythms and 60's folk. It was the perfect album to accompany taking off work early, throwing the board atop the Woodie, and heading out to the coast. With their 2014 followup, Worship The Sun, the band clearly has no plans to go off vacation. The fourteen songs on it are nuggets of sunshine, like today's featured song, "Had It All", which enters familiar territory with its jangly Byrds-ian opening and heavily reverbed, dreamy choruses. So, if it's summer you want, you can have it all the time with this excellent new album.

Allah-Las are about to embark on a European tour, but they will be at the Nootkah Sound Festival in Vancouver, BC, on August 30, and playing a couple of shows around LA before heading off. Their U.S. tour begins in November and they'll bring the sunshine to Seattle at Chop Suey on December 5. Find out more on their website and Facebook page.
