  • It's been three long years, but Bon Iver is back with a single for the new Zach Braff film, Wish I Was Here. (The soundtrack also boasts a new song from The Shins, as reported on last month.) You can stream the haunting track "Heavenly Father" via NPR Music. The soundtrack will be out digitally and on CD on July 15th, and on vinyl August 5th. [Consequence of Sound]

  • Toronto trio METZ have shared a cover of the track "I’m A Bug" by '70s So-Cal fellow-punks The Urinals. Stream the track below. METZ are currently working on their next album for Sub Pop Records, so here's hoping we hear a few new tracks on Thursday, July 3rd at Neumos, when they open for Cloud Nothings. [Stereogum]

  • Sometimes having too many cooks in the kitchen is a good thing: listen as Moderat (the collaboration of producer Apparat and Modeselektor) remix the track "Abandon Window" by UK producer Jon Hopkins. The seven-minute ambient track appears on the "We Disappear" 12″ single, out now on Domino. [Stereogum]

  • Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward, also known as She & Him, have announced they're leaving their longtime home of Merge Records for Columbia. Merge cornerstone Spoon announced this year they were jumping ship for Universal-distributed Loma Vista Records. What's next? Superchunk signing with EMI? Just kidding. The dashing duo report a new album out this fall on their new label. [Under the Radar]

  • Back in 2013, legendary Philadelphia artist ESPO (real name: Steve Powers) created a gorgeous mural that was used for the cover of Kurt Vile's excellent album, Wakin on a Pretty Daze. Sadly, over the weekend, a troubled local man whitewashed over the artwork, claiming it was "attracting graffiti to the neighborhood." Philadelphia reporter Leah R. Kauffman tracked down the man who did it, who is remorseful and has apologized to both Vile and ESPO, who will return to repaint the mural. Read his statement here, and watch a mini-documentary on the mural's creation below. [Spin]

  • Canadian quirksters Chromeo are coming to town, playing 7/26 at the Capitol Hill Block Party, as part of a tour they say is "presented" by Mallard Air. The apparently fictional airline has an amusing Twitter feed, and now an in-flight safety video, courtesy of Funny or Die, starring the electro-funk duo. Watch below: [Pitchfork]
