KEXP’s 2014 Hood-to-Hood Day celebration in Ballard is in full swing today—and the battle to host next year’s Hood-to-Hood party is about to begin!
KEXP’s 9th Annual Hood-to-Hood Challenge coincides with our One-Day Summer Fundraising Drive on Friday, June 13. Power the “music that matters” to you with a gift to KEXP during this fundraising campaign and you can vote for whatever Seattle neighborhood you choose (even if you live in another city). At the end of the Summer Drive we’ll tally up the gifts, and the ‘hood that shows the most support wins a party next year, complete with live music, KEXP DJs, discounts from local merchants, and much more.
KEXP initiated the Hood to Hood Challenge in 2006. The reigning champion, Ballard, has claimed the title five times, while Capitol Hill, the U-District, and West Seattle are all one-time winners. Artists that have played previous KEXP Hood to Hood Day celebrations include Sera Cahoone, Michael Franti, Cloud Cult, the Moondoggies, the Maldives, Damien Jurado, Buffalo Tom, Joan As Police Woman, Shabazz Palaces, Deep Sea Diver, My Goodness, Kithkin, and Kingdom Crumbs.
