One of the joys of returning to Iceland year after year is watching young bands grow up. All teenagers when they began in 2004, and some were even still when we first discovered them back in 2009, Mammút have honed their emotionally expressive and dynamic sound over the past years into an award winning combination. Their third full-length, Komdu til mín svarta systir, won Best Rock and Pop Music Album at the Icelandic Music Awards this year against some incredible competition, and we were lucky to catch them performing many of the songs on it as works in progress.

You can get in early on many of the next award-winning Icelandic bands yourself. KEXP and Iceland Air want to send one lucky winner and a guest to Iceland Airwaves 2014. Time is running up, so find out more about our Iceland Airwaves Flyaway Extravaganza and enter to win now!

Then, watch how Mammút has grown over the past five years at Iceland Airwaves:
