Before Black Pistol Fire even began performing, drummer Eric Owen stripped himself down to his skivvies, preparing himself for a loaded live session. And, yes, he is donning golf gloves. Coupled with the high energy guitarist and life-long friend Kevin McKeown supplied, the incredible duo flooded the KEXP studio with a sound so explosive it left DJ Cheryl Waters stunned. Black Pistol Fire's sweaty Southern garage rock is capable of incorporating both bluesy tracks and jam-band jangles, and they vacillate well between wild guitar solos and drastic shifts in time-signatures. Having spent most of their time moving between Canada and Texas, the duo has just re-located to Austin for the time being and are celebrating the release of their second album, Hush or Howl, by touring with Wolfmother.
