  • I never thought the day would come that Miley Cyrus would make the KEXP Blog, but I also never thought she'd perform with The Flaming Lips, like she did this past weekend at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Apparently, Cyrus told the crowd, "I hope I can inspire you guys as much as The Flaming Lips have inspired me and encouraged me to always be myself and to make music because I love it and always invent something new for my fans." Watch Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd perform "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" with Cyrus below. [Pitchfork]

  • Broken Social Scene frontman Kevin Drew has a new solo album coming out March 18th, whose album cover kinda looks like the t-shirt design for our Spring Drive. (Great minds think alike!) We shared the track "Good Sex" last month, and now you can stream the single "Mexican Aftershow Party" below. Drew's album, Darlings, hits stores on March 18th on his longtime label, Arts & Crafts. • Don't wanna board your flight without some 8-Way Santa? Seattle's iconic Sub Pop Records is opening a store at Sea-Tac Airport! So, if you're looking for a retail management position, or just looking for some last-minute Sub Pop souvenirs at the airport, the Sea-Tac Sub Pop Mega Mart is scheduled to open this Spring. [Spin]

  • On the topic of local music, Seattle grunge gods Soundgarden are planning a special reissue of their 1994 album, Superunknown. The deluxe version arrives on June 3rd, featuring rare demos and rehearsal recordings, and then on Record Store Day, they'll release it as a limited-edition set of five 10″ records. Sample one of those previously long-lost recordings below with this rehearsal version of "The Day I Tried To Live." [Stereogum]

  • Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks are out on the road in support of their latest, Wig Out at Jagbags, and at Chicago's Lincoln Hall, they paid tribute to Beck, who produced their 2011 album, Mirror Traffic. Watch as they take "The Golden Age" from Sea Change into the Midnite Vultures' track "Debra," right into Pavement's own "Gold Soundz." Let's hope for a reprise when the band hit The Neptune on Saturday, April 12th. [Pitchfork]
