As you've been listening these past few days, you've heard a couple things you wouldn't typically hear this time of year on KEXP.The first is the hullabaloo about Amplifiers Love Week. All donors play a crucial role in KEXP's ability to bring you great music and new artists on a daily basis. The sustained, ongoing monthly support of Amplifiers allows you to enjoy more "music that matters," because the reliable revenue they provide means we don't have to spend as much time fundraising on-air.
You'll be hearing even more music than usual this week, including in-studio performances by Junip and Robyn Hitchcock earlier this week and today's special session with The Cave Singers from The Triple Door. That's because instead of our traditional week-long Summer Drive, Amplifers have enabled us to concentrate it into "12 hours of awesome" on Friday, June 7th, so the in-studios and other great KEXP services you love don't have to go on hiatus for a whole week.
But shortening the Summer Drive into just one day means it's more important than ever that you show your support for the music you love. We'll be offering extra incentives to encourage you to give, including some great giveaways and possibly the best programming you'll hear all year (John's got a great day-long theme brewing...), but ultimately it comes down to this: Do you want to hear more music?
One thing we didn't want to eliminate this June was the Annual Hood to Hood Challenge. When you make a donation on Friday, June 7th, you'll be able to vote for the hood of your choice to win a kickass KEXP party next year! To get the ball rolling, gifts made online starting today count towards the challenge, too. (If you're one of those nefarious, moustache-twirling villians who rigs elections, don't get any crazy ideas about stuffing the ballot box; the neighborhood that raises the most money wins, not the one that receives the most individual votes.)
All of us at KEXP love music just as much as you do—and we want to keep playing more of it. So please, power KEXP during the 8th Annual Hood to Hood Challenge and Summer Fundraising Drive.
