If Killer Mike had my favorite show at Sasquatch, Chvrches gets to take favorite pop show of the weekend. Where their albums are already pretty perfect in the realm of pop - the live performance blew them out of the water. Lauren Mayberry's vocals are so close to sweet that it's almost bitter - she never once crosses the line of too cute. Instead she easily and magically pours out a continual stream of crystal clear vocals. There is very little alterations to the vocals in this band- instead the synths and electronics roar behind the powerful voice, sometimes the voices of all three. Basically the only visual accompaniment to their set was a slight breeze and a full crowd despite this being the first show on a rainy morning. The audience was also given good advice from Mayberry, sitting on a friends shoulders at a show can result in having a "cup of piss" thrown at you. There was no piss thrown at this show, only sweet electro-pop, as well as a track that featured martin Doherty on lead vocals - as well as a mention of visiting Washington again next year. This show started their US tour - and it bodes well for the rest of the trip.
