Diplo's music project Major Lazer gave a killer performance last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. He was joined on the track "Get Free" by Amber Coffman and Dave Longstreth of Dirty Projectors as well as The Roots. Look for Major Lazer's sophomore album Free the Universe on April 16. [CoS]

Indie-pop band Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. will release a new EP next week and they're hitting all the right notes."Hiding", the second track off Patterns, features an organic harmony and luminous synthesizers. The lyrics "I ain't hiding no more" affirms that they have found their sound and their stickin' to it. Any band named after a Nascar pro has to be secure in their vision and talent. Holograms' have introduced their new single "Flesh and Bone" from their sophomore album Forever (out September 3 via Captured Tracks). The Swedish rockers have been around for less than a year, but they've already acquired quite the following. Thier guitar prowess shines through the track and lead singer Andreas Lagerstrom's accent further showcases their uniqueness. [SPIN]

There's another Swedish artist is making a splash today. Sally Shapiro has a shimmery new music video for the single "If It Doesn't Rain". From what I can tell, this is a love story between a girl and a Jack Frost-ish character - that has some AMAZING hair. Check out the video, whose animation is actually from a 1950's cartoon by Czech artist Zdenek Miller, below. Shapiro's album, Somewhere Else, is out now. [Stereogum]

Did you realize that The Flaming Lips are no longer so beloved by the Oklahoma Governor's office? They certainly didn't! Their song "Do You Realize?" from 2002's Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots was elected the state's official Rock N Roll Song in 2009 by a joint resolution in the State Senate (the House rejected it, but then-Governor Brad Henry overturned their decision). Current Governor Mary Fallin elected not to renew the mandate, and the song's honor lapsed with no notice or fanfare. News only now has spread thanks to a bit of investigative journalism.
