Thursday's weather forecast put Austin, TX, at a high of 80 degrees Fahrenheit, but you wouldn't know it listening to the Copenhagen-via-Los Angeles trio Gliss' shimmering cool. Supplanted by multi-instrumentalist Martin Klingman and guitarist David Reiss' brooding soundscapes, vocalist Victoria Cecilia's dreamy coo is able to conjure the mysterious noir of nighttime L.A. even in the completely opposite setting of the Texan sun. Now touring behind their recently released third album, Langsom Dans, the trio sound more crystalline and noir than ever, like a mix of a less strung-out Songs of Faith And Devotion-era Depeche Mode and the alluring shoegaze shine of Lush. As they set up for their final show of SXSW 2013 in Mellow Johnny's Bike Shop, the trio's ethereal, diaphanous swirl of dream pop that's surely as enrapturing during the daytime as it is when the sun goes down.

Their set today during our SXSW broadcast was like a shimmering pool of reverberating rock. As Gliss focused completely on their new material, from Langsom Dans, Cecilia gyrated, danced and waved her ams as she sang with co-vocalist and percussionist Martin Klingman and while David Reiss wailed on guitar. Gliss' moody set certainly won't change any of the comparisons to fellow Danes The Raveonettes, but their sound has an undeniably western twang, perfect for the sunny southern landscape outside.
