Tom Krell sure had one hell of a year last year. The new How To Dress Well record, Total Loss, was almost unanimously well received for its bare bones mixture of R&B and electronica. It also helps that it was a heartfelt, heartbroken record that tells the true story of Krell's last year (read more about Total Loss in our review here). But regardless of how great the album was, everyone knows that the crux of bedroom projects comes when you take the laptop to the stage. But Krell knows better, and for the Total Loss live experience, he brought friends along to make for an entirely new experience that blew our minds. Live, we see that Tom shows us that his sultry falsetto is no production trick. Rocking between two mics - one clean and one heavy on reverb - he creates a dizzying vocal effect that matches the record's impactful nature blow for blow. Witness his awesome performance live in the KEXP studio below and make sure to check him out when he returns to Seattle on tour with Sky Ferreira on April 6.
