With the Chinese zodiac launching the Year of the Rat, it seems only fitting that today's Song of the Day comes from Chicago indie rockers Ratboys.
Formed in 2009, the songwriting duo of Julia Steiner and Dave Sagan have been strengthening their craft over the past couple of albums, AOID (2015) and GN (2017). On their forthcoming full-length Printer’s Devil (out February 28th via Topshelf Records), they've expanded their colony to include drummer Marcus Nuccio and bassist Sean Neumann, making this their most fleshed-out release yet, despite Steiner's insecurities otherwise. “There’s definitely a lot of uncertainty about what’s next, but I like to think that, in the midst of creating a lot of vulnerability for ourselves, we’re confident and becoming more self-assured,” she said via a press release. If today's featured track is any indication, it sounds like they landed that confidence.
