Luisa Almaguer is a trans singer from Mexico City. She released the follow up to her 2016 debut EP Miljillo, in 2019, titled MATARONOMATAR. Produced by Thompson B Davis (a.k.a The TBD), MATARONOMATAR finds Luisa opening up her heart, and – through eight songs full of distorted guitars and her characteristic deep and obscure voice – shares her distress with transphobic culture. Luisa’s songs are “a wake-up call that reminds us that trans people exist and resist”. In addition to her music, Luisa is also the co-creator of multimedia works “La Virgen del Sexo” and “Vengadora Vengana,” and the host of “La hora trans” a space for trans people to share their stories on Puentes, MX.
