Black Country, New Road combine ominous post-punk with saxophone and violin, supporting frontman Isaac Wood's speak-sing style, described as "The Fall meets (William) Burroughs" by Pierre Hall, co-founder of the label Speedy Wunderground. The mysterious London-based seven-piece band was formed from the ashes of Nervous Conditions, and while they only have a couple of singles to their name, they've already garnered tons of buzz for their cacophonous, creative live performances.
"It describes a series of events, loosely connected, all yet to happen," Wood says in a press release of today's featured track. "The song was intended to be highly inspirational. The lyrics are sometimes concerned with symbols of wealth or affluence but they are not written from a critical or even external position."
