Silver Jackson is one of the many aliases of Sitka, Alaska-born artist Nicholas Galanin: he also uses his Tlingit name Yéil Ya-Tseen, records under the name Indian Nick, runs the label HomeSkillet Records and manages its annual HomeSkillet festival, is a member of experimental electronic trio Indian Agent with Zach Wass and KEXP's own OC Notes, and produces contemporary visual artwork under his given name. "Having multiple creative outlets means that I am able to respond necessarily when inspiration hits — nothing forced, no writer's block or stress from a lull or quiet creative period," he told CBC News.
The Tlingit/Aleut multi-instrumentalist collaborated with a wealth of guest artists on his 2012 LP It's Glimmering Now, including OCNotes, Budo, P Smoov (Mad Rad/Fresh Espresso), Micah Middaugh, and Trevor Hobbs (Breathe Owl Breathe). On today's featured track, Nat Baldwin (of Dirty Projectors) and Little Wings bring a ghostly presence to the warm, folksy, campfire-ready acoustic song.
