Roanoke, Virginia indie rock act Eternal Summers released their fifth album, Every Day It Feels Like I’m Dying... in early May. Our song of the day, "Contenders," was the second single off the album and addresses feelings of power versus powerlessness. This feeling was explained in our album premiere and Q+A with the band, in which they expressed, "The contrast of darkness and light in our lyrics, music and visuals has always been there...The lyrics for the new album are not so much hopeless, as they are a cry for hope, and a summoning of strength to be hopeful for the future." Eternal Summers will be in Seattle on Sunday, August 12 to play the Crocodile Back Bar. Below, check out Eternal Summers' KEXP in-studio session from 2015, ahead of the release of their fourth album, Gold and Stone.
