Portland quartet Lithics make urgent post-punk that is somehow minimalist and highly intricate at the same time. The band released their second album, Mating Surfaces, in May to rave reviews.  Our song of the day, “Specs,” exemplifies the band’s expertise at aggressive dissonant guitars, detached vocals, and nervous energy. The song was the second single off the album, following album opener, “Excuse Generator,” and came with a self-made video. Watch that below, as well as the band’s KEXP in-studio performance and interview with Sharlese from March.
