Seattle singer/songwriter Damien Jurado is releasing his self-produced thirteenth album, The Horizon Just Laughed, early this summer. Today's song of the day is the album's lead single, "Over Rainbows and Rainier." The hushed acoustic song speaks of the beauty of Mount Rainier, while the accompanying video by Jordan Halland puts it into visuals as Jurado drives a scenic road in a classic blue Volvo intercut with majestic visuals of the Northwest woodlands, with an especially beautiful culminating shot of Rainier. The Horizon Just Laughed will be out May 4 from Secretly Canadian. It follows up 2016's Visions of Us on the Land, which was the final chapter of a trilogy of concept albums that began with 2012's Maraqopa. On Saturday, June 2 Jurado will play St. Mark's Cathedral in Seattle.
