Irish musician, and onetime bassist of Dublin alt-rock band JJ72, Hilary Woods has recently announced her debut album, Colt, which will be released through Sacred Bones. Our song of the day, “Inhaler,” is the lead single from the album. The track is a haunting and fragile ambient piece that has touches of Julee Cruise and Grouper’s ghostly work. She should be right at home at Sacred Bones amongst Jenny Hval, Zola Jesus, Marissa Nadler, and Pharmakon. Woods says the song is, "A response to a relenting absence that was constantly present, Inhaler is a song about homesickness, longing; an attempt to find new ways of being in the wake of separation.” The song comes with a bewitching, dreamlike video directed by Woods, with cinematography by long-time collaborator Joshua Wright and choreography by Justine Cooper. Colt is out June 8 via Sacred Bones.
