Au Revoir Simone and Nice As Fuck’s Erika Spring is releasing a solo EP this Friday, Oct. 5, titled Scars. It’s her first solo release since her 2012 debut self-titled EP. The EP’s title track, our Song of the Day, was written in 2015 with help from producer and Dap-Kings member Homer Steinweiss.

“We wrote the track ‘Scars’ around the time that I had an early miscarriage,” explains Spring. “The song came together so naturally at the piano, and the words just spilled out. They’re so clearly addressing that experience of loss, but I don’t think I realized it at the time.”

Au Revoir Simone hasn’t released a proper studio album since 2013’s Move In Spectrums but recently appeared on David Lynch’s Twin Peaks reboot to perform the song “Lark.” Nice As Fuck, Spring’s project with Jenny Lewis and Tennessee Thomas, released their debut self-titled record in 2016.
