Norwegian pop-punk band Sløtface (pronounced "Slutface") share a perfect song to kick off 2020. While previous singles have buzzed with '90s-influenced energy, the new single embraces the listener gently with Real Estate-esque guitars and the plaintive vocals of frontwoman Haley Shea. It's the somber sound of the post-New Year's Eve party, after all your friends have gone home, and you're sitting alone with the leftover champagne. Of the new track, Shea says:
“This one is about all the promises we keep to ourselves, and all the good advice we give but never take. I’m a master of thinking I can always be better, work harder, sleep less, do more, but maybe that’s not always possible. It’s about working on taking care of yourself and taking advice you would give to someone else.”
Sløtface will return with their highly-anticipated sophomore full-length Sorry for the Late Reply on January 31 via Nettwerk/Propeller Recordings.
