With Gold Past Life, Eric D. Johnson continues to grow the legacy of Fruit Bats with an album KEXP's Don Yates calls a "sharply crafted set of hook-filled folk-pop combining a warm sound with buoyant melodies and lyrics revolving around moving on."
In an exclusive interview with KEXP, Johnson explains the title for today's Song of the Day, telling us it “refers to nostalgia and the notion of some sort of past that's gilded in your mind. You know, thinking of the past in a romanticized way that might not actually be the reality.”
Fruit Bats play tonight in Carrboro, North Carolina as part of the Merge Records 30th Anniversary festival.
