On her 2016 debut album Pustvopol, composer/multi-instrumentalist Katarína Máliková reinterpreted traditional Slovak folk songs to great success, earning herself a wave of accolades from the Slovak Radio FM's Radio Head Award Ceremony (often referred to as the "Slovakian Grammy") including Debut of the Year 2016, the Critics Award 2016, and in the genre category World Music/Folk.
But on her sophomore release Postalgia, Máliková braves a departure from traditional music, delving into what she calls the "dark nooks of the female soul, the ephemeral of romantic relationships, the past and the nuances of childhood memories." The new album finds the classically-trained pianist experimenting with electronics, crafting an atmospheric backdrop to her soaring, dynamic vocals.
