Bristol’s Heavy Lungs kicked off 2019 with the sludgy ripper, "Jealous," our Song of the Day. The scathing single follows a busy 2018 that saw the post-punk band release their debut EP Abstract Thoughts and team up with buddy-band IDLES for a split 7-inch alongside playing bigger and bigger shows across the UK. “Jealous” will appear on a forthcoming EP titled Straight to CD, which is described on Bandcamp as “the EP your mother told you to worry about. Forget your fears and open your ears.” It goes on to explain that the new EP “was recorded throughout 2018 at the mystical Nave studio in Leeds, UK and the mighty Malthouse in Bristol, Earth. A mix of aggressive caring for each other, this new ep is a collection of golden oldies and true blue tracks from HL, to you.”
Heavy Lungs will play KEXP’s International Clash Day live from London event that takes place Feb. 4-7 which will see the band play the broadcast along with their pals IDLES and other UK bands including Chemtrails, Snapped Ankles, JOHN, and Ibibio Sound Machine.
