London-born/New York-based duo Still Corners released their fifth studio album, Slow Air, a couple weeks ago via their self-run label, Wrecking Light. The album was made in Austin and thematically revolves around their time there. Frontwoman Tessa Murray said this about the new album: “We wanted to hear beautiful guitar and drums and an otherworldliness, something almost indefinable along with a classic song writing vibe. We’re always trying to get the sound we hear inside of ourselves, so we moved fast to avoid our brains getting in the way too much. The name Slow Air evokes the feel of the album to me, steady, eerie and beautiful.” Our Song of the Day, “Black Lagoon,” has been on regular rotation since its release in June. Still Corners will make a stop in Seattle on Monday, November 5 at the Tractor Tavern. Watch the self-made dusty video for “Black Lagoon” and the band’s KEXP in-studio performance from 2011 below.
