Welcome to Aquí y Ahora, the special KEXP´s programming for Latinx Heritage Month, officially celebrated from September 15th to October 15th in the United States. For us, this month represents an opportunity to continue amplifying the music, stories, and presence of Latinx, Latine, and Hispanic communities in the United States and the diaspora in our on-air, in-person, and digital world. Aquí y Ahora: Without Borders 2023 will beat strongly from September 18th to October 12th all across KEXP. On this page, you'll find exclusive content that we've prepared for the 2023 edition, as well as a direct gateway to the Latin (and bilingual) music constellation of the only station Where the Music Matters.
Join us on Monday, September 18th, to kick off Aquí y Ahora with special on-air programming all day long, focusing on the local community in the PNW. Expect exclusive performances, stories, podcasts, and tons of great music throughout the month.
Recognizing the need for action to create a more equitable world through art, Aqui y Ahora will celebrate La Cultura by presenting a musical blueprint in constant construction, inviting our listeners and community to dive into it throughout the month and for all eternity that the internet provides. KEXP Latino is not just the El Sonido show every Monday night; it's also El Sonido Podcast and its first season, "Cancioneros"; it's El Sonido Live and the six Ibero-American bands that traveled to record their "Live on KEXP" sessions on July; it's our remote broadcasts in Latin America, which took us to Mexico for the second time in March 2023, and most importantly, it's a constant and integral presence on our airwaves at FM 90.3 Seattle, reaching the world through kexp.org. And, again, this is just the beginning.
