Arthur Buck is the new appropriately titled project between old friends and musical colleagues Joseph Arthur and Peter Buck (of R.E.M.), which began when Arthur needed to retrieve a prized guitar he left behind after playing a festival in Mexico. While there, he ran into Buck and they began spontaneously and productively jamming, quickly churning out a few of the songs that would appear on their debut album in a few hours. “Are You Electrified?” is the optimistic second single from the album, following “I Am the Moment.” The track was produced, as was the entire album, by Arthur and mixed by Tchad Blake (U2, Pearl Jam, the Black Keys). Buck explains the serendipity of the project, “I wasn’t really sure what would happen. Everyone has different ways of writing and Joe tends to really write off of inspiration… I tend to throw in a lot of bridges. I like chords. I like hooks. So the two of us complement each other really well. And I also like that the songs we wrote are really forward-looking in a lot of ways. It’s a very positive record.” Arthur Buck is out June 15th via New West Records.
