This week, we are featuring Christmas-themed songs selected by Brian Foss, host of Sonic Reducer, KEXP's punk show. Brian has been doing a punk rock Christmas special every year since 2004 and has been a Christmas Day on-air DJ since 2012. No standards are played, only original X-Mess songs, most with a humorous bent. Seattle brothers Eric and Evan Foster are mainstays of the local scene (Boss Martians, The Sonics, The Pranks, etc) and this snarky yet sincere number is right up my alley.
Dirty Sidewalks are releasing their full-length debut next year, titled Bring Down the House Lights, out January 18th via No-Count Records. An album release show is scheduled for Friday, January 19th with Jupe Jupe and Surrealized also on the bill. You can follow them on Facebook to hear about additional future shows.
