On July 8th, 2002, a then-unknown New York City band called LCD Soundsystem released their debut single "Losing My Edge." With its humorous lyrics and hypnotic beat, the single became a club hit, and would later be included on "Best Tracks of the Century" lists from Pitchfork and NME.
Inspired by his experiences as a club DJ, frontman James Murphy runs through a total fifty-five musicians, as well as a couple of iconic venues and influential music scenes. And on the morning of Tuesday, July 8th, DJ John Richards will run through them all on The Morning Show on KEXP from 6:00 to 10:00 AM PST. From Can to Captain Beefheart, Pere Ubu to PIL, and Gil! Scott! Heron!, John Richards will play it all. He'll play Daft Punk to the rock kids.
Stream the track below and tune in Tuesday morning so you can say, "I was there... when John played all the bands in that LCD Soundsystem song."
