World Refugee Day on KEXP

June 20 is World Refugee Day, an international observance dedicated to raising awareness of the world’s refugee situation and to support millions of families all over the world who have lost their homes and families because of violence or war. The day also provides opportunities within local communities to help refugees worldwide.

KEXP is taking this opportunity to celebrate refugees, and the rich contributions they make to our community and our world. Every hour, we will play music from an artist who is a refugee as a show of appreciation and support.

Long Songs on the Longest Day of the Year

This Friday, June 21st, is the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. This year, on the longest day, KEXP will dedicate the daylight time to celebrating beauty and joy of a declining trend - long songs.
All day, KEXP DJs will only play tracks longer than 6 minutes and 13 seconds, the length of Bob Dylan’s classic Like a Rolling Stone.
