On his fourth album, the acclaimed singer-songwriter sets to music portions of Edgar Lee Masters' Spoon River Anthology, which detailed the tortured memories of a fictional Illinois town's departed souls. Aided once again by Calexico/Giant Sand's Joey Burns and John Convertino, Buckner's created a brooding, haunted work that's utterly captivating.
