The Hidden Cameras: The Smell of Our Own
Buy! - (Rough Trade)
The second album from this Toronto band led by Joel Gibb is a lovely set of symphonic pop. While the album's subject matter seems to center around the transcendent power of gay sex, Gibb's gorgeous songcraft keeps it far away from novelty territory. Imagine a union of the Magnetic Fields and Belle & Sebastian being blessed by the Polyphonic Spree, and you might end up with the sweet sounds of the Hidden Cameras. 4/15/2003 - Don Yates
