- (Cumbancha)
This Sierra Leone band that formed in West African refugee camps after a bloody civil war drove them from their own country. Their third album sounds like their strongest, most confident work to date, seamlessly blending soukous, Afro-beat and more traditional West African styles with roots-reggae, dub, funk and more on a variety of buoyant, hope-filled songs recorded using vintage analog equipment by producer/musician Victor Axelrod (Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Antibalas, etc.). 4/20/2012
