Cloud Nothings: Attack On Memory
Buy! - (Carpark)
The third album from this Cleveland project led by young Dylan Baldi is an abrupt and wholly successful change-of-pace from the more upbeat and melodic self-titled album from last year. Produced by Steve Albini, the album sports a much darker, heavier '90s-influenced sound, with thick, distorted basslines, trebly guitars and raw drums reminiscent of Slint, the Wipers and Fugazi, along with more angsty fare like Nirvana, Sunny Day Real Estate and Jawbreaker. Some of his earlier power pop can still be found, though it's colored much darker here, both musically and lyrically. 1/23/2012 - Don Yates
