This British band’s second album is a bigger, shinier, more pop-oriented take on their ‘80s-influenced dance-rock sound, with brighter melodies and more limber rhythms than those found on their impressive debut. Pala seamlessly combines New Wave synth pop, Talking Heads art-funk, techno, rave, Afropop and other dance-friendly styles into epic, colorfully detailed pop songs with huge sing-a-long choruses, monster pop hooks and sunny melodies often juxtaposed with melancholy lyrics. 5/17/2011
