- (Asthmatic Kitty)
The Chicago avant-pop composer boldly reinvents his sound for his latest album by taking a much more electronic approach with prominent squishy synths, drum machines, processed vocals and thick coats of reverb. There’s also still plenty of traditional orchestration, but the electronics are what’s most often in the foreground. The songs are also more lyrically direct and personal, with many of them centered around lost love. 10/1/2010
