Drive-By Truckers: The Big To-Do
Buy! - (ATO)
The Truckers come out blazing on their 8th regular studio album, which could very well be the hardest-rocking record of their career. With longtime producer David Barbe behind the boards again, the cavernous, muscular sound is stadium-sized rock done right. The guitars are cranked up loud without overwhelming the stellar musicianship of the rest of the band. The vocals can also be plainly heard, always a good thing with a band known for great lyrics and great stories, and there are plenty of them here, many of them dealing with bad luck, bad choices and hard times, themes that resonate as loudly as the band’s guitars in the midst of this new Depression. 3/4/2010 - Don Yates
