This Baltimore artist follows up his 2007 breakthrough Spiderman of the Rings with an album that’s deeper, richer and more emotionally satisfying. While Spiderman was all-electronic, Bromst is a blend of electronics and live instrumentation, including marimba, glockenspiel, vibraphone, drums and a variety of wind and brass instruments. While Bromst is a more serious and ambitious affair, it’s still a lot of fun, playfully combining the minimalism of Steve Reich with the freewheeling tribal dance-pop of Animal Collective for an epic wall of euphoric sound. 3/13/2009
