While currently a 7-piece band, this Raleigh, North Carolina group started off as a solo project for Stuart McLamb, and he made this album entirely on his own, playing all the instruments and recording with a 8-track. He ended up with a remarkable album of lo-fi indie-rock that’s grounded in classic late ‘50s-early ‘60s pop, veering from rousing epic songs a la the Arcade Fire to woozy, reverb-drenched ballads reminiscent of the Walkmen. 1/28/2009
