While it was difficult to excavate memorable songs from this Baltimore trio’s intriguing but overly dense and messy debut album, they’ve tightened things up considerably this time around. Their sound is still a highly rhythmic kind of arty post-punk flavored with gospel, jazz, African music and more, but they’re now using a wider variety of instrumentation and textures along with stronger melodies to flesh out some remarkable songs. 10/2/2007
