Boards Of Canada: Trans Canada Highway
Buy! - (Warp)
This new six-track EP from the Scottish sibling duo is, as is the case with all Boards Of Canada releases, fantastic. The first track is "Dayvan Cowboy", taken from their most recent album, 2005's The Campfire Headphase, followed by four new songs (although two of them are really just segues, clocking in at 1:10 and 1:30 respectively). Though the highlight of this EP is the last track, a remix of "Dayvan Cowboy" done by Odd Nosdam, of the group Clouddead. It's reason alone to pick this up. Odd Nosdam turns the song into a breathtakingly gorgeous nine minute ambient piece, divided into several "movements". What results is quite radically different from the original, enough so that it really is an entirely new song - right up there with some of Boards Of Canada's best material. 6/9/2006 - Don Yates
