Milosh: Meme
Buy! - (Plug Research)
This is the second album from Toronto native Mike Milosh. It’s a lovely affair of glitchy yet chilled electronic beats and warm lilting synth melodies, providing the most luscious of beds for Milosh’s beautiful vocals. Unlike most electronic artists who attempt to sing but can’t and thus either sound like crap or try to hide behind vocoders and other effects, he can actually sing…and sing very, very well. Whereas his first album was written shortly after falling in love and explored all the joyous wonders he found in his new girlfriend, this one was written after the collapse of that relationship and explores the accompanying heartache, loneliness, lust, guilt, soul searching, and eventually, romantic rebirth. The closest comparison I think of to this is (or at least at the moment) is Telefon Tel Aviv, although I actually like this a lot more. This is definitely one of the best releases I have heard in quite a while. 3/24/2006 - Don Yates
